Dean Fain Park
Responding to a wide-spread love of softball, Montgomery's Parks and Recreation Department has developed some of the finest softball facilities in the South. So fine, in fact, that the city has earned the nickname, "Softball Capital of the South." The Lagoon Park Softball Complex, recognized as one of the premiere softball facilities in the United States, hosts most of the area's league and tournament play. Each of the six Lagoon Park softball fields features closely manicured clay infields, Tifton Bermuda Grass outfields, and seating for 1,000. Nearby picnic areas and playgrounds can turn a softball outing into a good time for the entire family. The city's 40-acre Dean Fain Park in east Montgomery works in tandem with Lagoon to host annual national softball tournaments which bring thousands of visitors to Alabama's capital city.
